Treatment of toluene gaseous streams using packed column electro-scrubbers and cobalt mediators

چکیده

An absorption system has been combined with an electrochemical cell to treat a gaseous stream polluted toluene. Toluene retention in 3 h operation tests was higher than 87.0% the case of treating single scrubbing, 97.0% using electro-scrubbing and over 99.0% cobalt-mediated electro-scrubbing. It found that amount toluene escapes from electro-scrubber does not only depend on flow rate but also current density presence metallic mediator. The densities are, electrochemically degraded is. In addition mediating effect metal catalyst, results suggest important participation redox sulfate/persulfate pair degradation Only methyl-cyclohexane (at very low concentrations) is observed as intermediate, despite carboxylic acids were initially expected. formation this compound can be explained terms hydrogenation concentrations absorbed, high densities, support occurrence cold combustion electro-scrubber.
